What this background remover actually does
It is an edge flood fill, not a segmentation model — which makes it instant and private, and also means it has a clear job description.
Fills in from the borders
The four edges seed a fill that spreads through every pixel close enough to the average border colour. Those pixels get an alpha of zero; nothing else is touched.
One tolerance slider
Raise it to take more of a slightly uneven background, lower it when the fill starts eating into the subject. Two attempts usually settle it.

How to remove a background here
Use a plain background
One object, evenly lit, on a wall, a sheet of paper or a seamless studio backdrop. The flatter that background is, the cleaner the edge comes out.
Tune the tolerance
Start in the middle. A halo of background left behind means push it up; a bite taken out of the subject means bring it down.
Take the PNG, then use it
Download the transparent file, or drop it straight into the generator below — a clean cut-out is the best possible input for image to 3D.

No, and it is better to say so. It is excellent on a single object against a plain, evenly lit background. It cannot separate a subject from a busy scene, and fine hair or fur against a detailed background is beyond what an edge fill can do.
No. The image is decoded into a canvas in this tab and the fill runs on your own CPU. Nothing is transmitted, which means client photos and unreleased product shots stay where they are.
Because the 3D engine builds a mesh from one image, and anything else in that image competes with the subject. Removing the background is the single cheapest way to improve an image-to-3D result.
A PNG with a real alpha channel, at up to 1600 pixels on its longest side. PNG is used because it is the format that keeps transparency intact everywhere it goes.
Adjust the tolerance first — most rough edges are a fill that stopped too early or ran too far. Beyond that, the honest answer is that a hard-edged flood fill has no feathering, so a photo shot against a busy or shadowed background will need a real editor.
